Quantum coherence and many-body correlations:
from mesoscopic to macroscopic scales

IPHT RTRA IRAMIS SPEC

October 22th-23th 2008
Amphi BLOCH Orme des Merisiers, CEA Saclay, France

This workshop is organized within the RTRA program (Réseau Thématique de Recherche Avancée, le Triangle de la Physique) of the French government, in relation with the invited chair held by Yshai Avishai.

This short workshop aims at bringing together theorists and experimentalists working in electron and helium systems where a complex interplay takes place between many-body correlations and quantum interferences. This includes specific signatures of electron-electron interaction in mesoscopic transport, as well as more intriguing phenomena which might be signatures of a supersolid phase in helium 4 or of a true metallic phase in low density electron gases. A special emphasis will be put on recent developments of theoretical methods to tackle these issues (Quantum Monte Carlo, Density Matrix Renormalization group, Dynamical Mean Field Theory, Scattering approaches to the Many Body Problem).

The workshop includes four half-day sessions on:
